THE ARNEG GROUP EQUIPS THE NEW PLAZA ITALIA DISCO, THE FIRST SUPERMARKET WITH CO2 IN URUGUAY

In Montevideo, Uruguay, a new Grupo Disco Uruguay store has opened, with more than 2,000 m2 of sales space: Disco Fresh Market Plaza Italia.

Expressing its great commitment to caring for the environment and to guarantee maximum visibility of the different products in the store, Disco has chosen the Arneg Group as its commercial partner for refrigeration.

The refrigeration system installed in the Disco Plaza Italia store is the first of its kind in Uruguay and is made up of a refrigeration unit that uses the natural refrigerant CO2. This technology is friendly to the environment since it uses a 100% natural refrigerant (CO2) and strongly reduces the installed electrical power, the volume of refrigerant used and energy consumption. In addition, the installation designed by ARNEG includes the use of the heat generated by the system to heat water that can later be used in the store, and has a centralized control with remote monitoring that allows proper monitoring of the operation of the system remotely. .

Among the new solutions proposed for this store, it is possible to find VELDEN 4, a semi-mural island-type display unit that is characterized by its completely transparent central panels that allow complete visibility of the merchandise displayed there. In addition, another new semi-vertical cabinet used in this store is DAYTONA, specially designed for the sale of promotional products.

Among the various solutions proposed, the LONDON 3 display case stands out which, thanks to its fully glazed design, presents an excellent view of the products offered in the different areas of meats, cold cuts, cheeses and bakery. Meanwhile, the fresh fish is displayed on a bed of ice in the HALIFAX model unit.

For the wall displays, the ULM models were used for open equipment and LIPSIA for those that use glass doors, totally transparent and with a large display capacity.

For frozen products, the ASTANA model vertical display unit with doors and the self-contained units URANO and DIONE by OSCARTIELLE were installed.

Also continuing with the OSCARTIELLE self-contained equipment, you can find several corners inside the store with displays of the SWAN, DIONE and PREMIUM models.

More than 2,900 m2 of panels from the FRONT COLD line with PIR insulation were assembled in the complex of refrigerating chambers and workshops, along with sliding and pivoting doors for the entire back room. In addition, an 11-door Walking Cooler for drinks was installed.

The main characteristics of CO2 as a refrigerant are:

- It is a 100% natural refrigerant and complies with international standards that are gradually limiting the use of synthetic refrigerants.

- It is not flammable and is not toxic

- It has an ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) = 0 and a GWP (Global Warming Potential) = 1. This means that it has no negative impact on the environment.

- It is a low cost and widely available refrigerant.

Particular characteristics of the refrigeration system:

The refrigeration plant used to supply the local refrigeration consumption is the ARNEG LBST CO2 TRANSCRITIC model. This compact format model is made up of: 3 Dorin 4HP compressors for LV, 3 Dorin 35HP compressors for MT and 1 Dorin 35HP compressor in parallel for flash gas management. The main compressors of each stage have a frequency inverter for the partialization of their power, delivering greater efficiency to the system.

Overall, the total refrigeration power delivered is 48kw in BT and 190kw in MT.

The capacity partitioning is managed by the main controller Carel PRack 300T according to the instantaneous refrigeration requirement, varying the frequency of the main compressors, combined with the start of the remaining compressors.

An exchanger for the recovery of the heat to be dissipated, used for heating service water, was also installed in said plant, achieving even greater efficiency of the equipment and reducing the energy consumption of the premises by taking advantage of this resource. When it is not necessary to heat the water, the discharge gas is diverted by a 3-way motorized tap and cooled in the Gas Cooler, which has electronic variable speed fan according to the external temperature condition.
